SUMMARY:Ingersoll's Open Employer Training: Trans Cultural Competency
DESCRIPTION:Transgender and gender nonconforming folks face several barriers in their effort to attain economic stability and success. In a 2015 national survey\, it was found that the unemployment rate for transgender Washingtonians is nearly three times the national average (5%). Participants also reported instances of verbal\, physical and sexual harassment among other forms of mistreatment based on their gender identity or gender expression while in their places of work. \nIn an effort to create better work environments for transgender and gender nonconforming folks in Seattle\, we are offering a free 2 hour training on Trans Cultural Competency for local employers. We hope to build relationships with employers through offering an opportunity to learn about what it means to be transgender\, the systemic barriers that transgender folks face while navigating employment\, and ways that employers can disrupt transphobia in their own companies and organizations. \nYou can RSVP via the link attached (https://ingersoll.typeform.com/to/oY7COH). If you’re unable to attend this time around\, please take a look at our training and technical assistance program online or reach out to us via email at info@ingersollgendercenter.org for more information on different opportunities. \nIf you have any questions about this training opportunity please contact our Interim Economic Justice Manager\, Lee\, via email at lee@ingersollgendercenter.org.

SUMMARY:T Time: A Night for Transgender Networking
DESCRIPTION:For our second trans and gender diverse networking night of the year\, we’ll be gathering at the garden-esque Madison Valley hot-spot\, Cafe Flora. A plant-based space\, Cafe Flora is one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in the country and is a trans-owned business. Our T Time here will feature fresh locally-sourced bites and drinks\, in a welcoming and warm environment for you to get to know fellow trans and gender diverse folks from around the area. \nThis is a FREE event. Please register above. \n**What is T Time?**\nT Time is a community networking night for transgender and gender diverse professionals and community members. We create intentional space for transgender and gender diverse folks to connect\, learn\, and grow as professionals and people. T Time is an excellent way to meet civic and community leaders\, build relationships with other trans folks and take advantage of opportunities to increase personal and professional networks through social\, educational\, and philanthropic events. \nA priority of our programming is to be inclusive of everyone’s professional experiences and to build bridges between all identities of the LGBTQ and allied communities. Our trans and gender diverse networking nights are open to all industries\, from tech to corporate to the nonprofit sector to blue-collar\, all are welcome! \n**I don’t identify as trans or gender diverse. Can I still attend?**\nTransgender and gender diverse networking events are tailored towards and exclusively for transgender and gender diverse folks. We use this as an umbrella term that extends to all of our trans community. We only ask for you to respect that this event is not intended for cisgender members or allies. If you are interested in supporting GSBA’s transgender and gender diverse programming\, please email Eli Coffin (they\, them / he\, him) elic@thegsba.org.
