SUMMARY:Ingersoll's Open Employer Training: Trans Cultural Competency
DESCRIPTION:Transgender and gender nonconforming folks face several barriers in their effort to attain economic stability and success. In a 2015 national survey\, it was found that the unemployment rate for transgender Washingtonians is nearly three times the national average (5%). Participants also reported instances of verbal\, physical and sexual harassment among other forms of mistreatment based on their gender identity or gender expression while in their places of work. \nIn an effort to create better work environments for transgender and gender nonconforming folks in Seattle\, we are offering a free 2 hour training on Trans Cultural Competency for local employers. We hope to build relationships with employers through offering an opportunity to learn about what it means to be transgender\, the systemic barriers that transgender folks face while navigating employment\, and ways that employers can disrupt transphobia in their own companies and organizations. \nYou can RSVP via the link attached (https://ingersoll.typeform.com/to/oY7COH). If you’re unable to attend this time around\, please take a look at our training and technical assistance program online or reach out to us via email at info@ingersollgendercenter.org for more information on different opportunities. \nIf you have any questions about this training opportunity please contact our Interim Economic Justice Manager\, Lee\, via email at lee@ingersollgendercenter.org.
