Snohomish, Thurston, and Pierce Resource Guides
These guides are meant for trans and/or gender non-conforming folks in Snohomish, Pierce & Thurston Counties. We built these guides through surveys, meetings, listening sessions, and community conversations with folks in these counties and community based organizations that support and directly work with our communities. We recognize that many of the resources listed here are not long term solutions. Ingersoll is committed to building a work in which all trans and gender non-conforming folks are able to access the resources they need without worrying about their safety and well-being. We are excited to present these guides here online, and have print copies available with our partners and at our Seattle office.
Rural Resources Acknowledgement
We know our trans and gender nonconforming community living in rural places have particular questions, barriers, and access needs when navigating resources. Often, the resources we need are far away, or the ones nearby have a long way to go in being culturally competent to our communities.
We’ve listed a few resources that are specific to some of the rural community in each guide. Some of these resources did not pass our vetting standards, but we are aware most of these organizations don’t have capacity to complete trainings to best serve our communities.
With that in mind, here are some helpful questions and things to ask potential providers and resources:
- Do you require government ID to access any of your resources?
- Are any of your resources gender specific?
- Have you worked with folks from the tgnc community before?
- Is your organization faith based?
- Do you provide any support or resources for transportation?
